Use this guide to resolve School Census Error 1856

Error 1856;

• DfE Validation: <ServiceChild> must be present and a valid value for all pupils on roll 
• Explanation: Where a Student has a Parental Responsibility Contact being ticked as a member of the armed forces then in the Student Profile>Edit Student Details>Additional Details>Service Children in Education this field must be either Yes, Unknown or Refused. The field defaults to N so you only need to change this for Service Children.

From the selected Student Profile click Edit Student Details to the right of the Student Name

Then click on the Additional Details tab.

Then choose the correct value for the selected Student from the Service Children in Education drop down

Remember to click Save if you make any amendments.

IMPORTANT : in order for the resolved error/query to be removed from the list of errors/queries you would need to generate a new Census return and remember to use save & validate for the errors/queries to update/clear.
