How To Set Location Based Controls

Note: All pages below are subject to having relevant Roles and Permissions.

Location Based Controls enable the school to define the days and times a User can login and use the MIS.

Location Based Controls can be applied in a couple of ways to allow a school to restrict the access of a User. This restriction can be placed at individual User level or Role level.

System User Location Based Control

From the left Menu go to Modules > Setup > System Security > System Users.

The location restriction can be set at any time on the User either when creating the Login or editing later.

Tick the box to Override System Defaults for this User then on the Location Based Access Controls panel. Either click the + icon to add a new Location Range or click the Pencil icon to Edit an existing one. The Times the User can login can also be edited on the Time Based Access Control panel by clicking on the Pencil icon and making the changes for each day. Confirm the changes by clicking the Tick icon or abandon them by clicking the icon. [The Tick icon will be displayed when you click on the Pencil icon]. The Times are changed in the same way by clicking the Pencil icon.

Roles and Permissions Location Based Control

From the left Menu go to Config > Setup > Roles & Permissions.

The restriction is Role driven and removes the need to individually restrict the Locations User can log in from.

Select a Role from the Roles and Permissions dropdown.

Scroll to the foot of the page and either click the + icon to add a New Location Range or click the Pencil icon to Edit an existing one. Confirm the changes by clicking the Tick icon or abandon them by clicking the icon. [The Tick icon will be displayed when you click on the Pencil icon]. The Times are changed in the same way by clicking the Pencil icon.
