This page contains guidance for completing the Autumn 2022 School Census. It will be updated as and when we receive updates from DfE.
Access: The permissions required to run and troubleshoot the Autumn Census are found in the Census Module of Config>Setup>Roles and Permissions. Each tick box on the right determines which functions are visible/available on the page for users with the selected Role.

Known Issues
Known Issues from DfE
We will update this section to show any known issues that have been reported to us by the DfE
Error code 2392 – The DfE have identified that this error is triggering incorrectly where a pupil has more than one placement and combination of attendance is valid. For example, they have two open PT placements. This error will disappear when the return is uploaded onto Collect. Only genuine errors will remain.
Query 2020q – This query has been updated to trigger if pupils aged 2 or 3 are recorded in NC Year R. This was not implemented in XSLT but will trigger on upload to COLLECT. Therefore, if this query triggers in COLLECT it is genuine and should be either resolved or a suitable notepad explanation provided.
Error 2710 – The DfE have Identified, that this error is triggering in the XSLT for valid T Level occupational specialism QN i.e QN b where the first 5 digits are ZTLOS. This error will disappear on upload to COLLECT, unless it is genuine.
Error 2877 – The DfE have Identified that the Employer’s Data System (EDS) is effectively being phased out and therefore new employers are not being added. After discussions with post 16 colleagues, it has been agreed that this validation can be removed. This error will still trigger in the school’s MIS but will disappear on upload to COLLECT.
Error 2878 and 2879 – DfE have removed reference to the Employer’s ID for reason stated under E2877 above. These errors will still trigger in the school’s MIS if the employer’s ID is missing but will disappear when uploaded to COLLECT. Only genuine errors will remain.
Query 4017q – This query has been introduced to trigger if a pupil has more than 15 tuition hours. This was not implemented in the XSLT and will trigger on upload to COLLECT. Therefore, if this query triggers in COLLECT it is genuine and should be either resolved or a suitable notepad explanation provided.
School summary Table 29 – It has come to attention of the DfE that this table will not populate the student’s numbers in NC year 14 column if the schools highest NC year is Year 14. Unfortunately, at this late stage we cannot provide a new school summary XSLT file to software suppliers. However, we would highly recommend that schools returning post 16 data run and check the numerous ESFA 16-19 reports available from the reports section to reconcile their post 16 data.
