How to create a Zero Value for a Product

This guide covers how to create a Zero Value for a Product and covers the following processes;

Access: The Permissions required to access Products can be found in the MCAS module from within Config > Setup > Roles & Permissions.

Create Zero Value Product

Go to Modules>MCAS>Products

Pathway

Click New

When adding a new Product, a new Price Option labelled Zero Value has been added to the right hand Payment Options panel. When Zero Value is selected, users are able to create Products with a zero value against them. 

  • Zero Value button will be enabled when Variations is set to No.
  • Item Price (£) and Associated Account will be greyed out. 
  • Once saved, the item will be added to the Products table as usual.
  • This product will be made available to parents to select in MCAS > Online Payments.

View Orders

Go to Modules > MyChildAtSchool > Online Payments > View Orders

Pathway

Zero Value products will be displayed in the View Orders page as:

  • Payment Method = Other
  • Order Status = Paid – Zero Status

When creating an order from the View Orders/View Balances page for a Zero Value product, the Create Order & Pay Now button will be greyed out.

MCAS View

MCAS > Online Payments

When a parent purchases a Zero Value product only, they will see a Confirm button instead of Confirm and Pay, and no money will be taken.

Note: When a Zero Value product has been added to the basket along will products with values – the existing process will apply and users will see the Confirm & Pay button. Money will be taken for the products with values.
