How to Delete a Student

Note: All pages below are subject to having relevant Roles and Permissions.

Deleting a Student is very rarely needed as when Students leave, you should follow the Leavers process. It may be needed if, for example, a Student has been added but never starts at the school.

Deleting a Student is irreversible.

To start the process, highlight the student(s) to be deleted and select Actions and Delete.

After selecting Delete, you will be asked if you want to Permanently Delete the student.

If the Attendance count is greater than 0 then the student should not be deleted and should be made a Leaver.  

If the Attendance count is 0 and you wish to continue, tick the student and click the Permanent Delete button.

There is one final warning before the student is Deleted, as this is irreversible. If you wish to continue click the Proceed button.

You will then be asked to input your Password again and Confirm.

Accessing a list of Deleted Students

You can access a list of all Deleted students by clicking on Actions and  Deleted Students button.

  1. I want to delete a pupil from my preadmission group as they are no longer starting with us. It requires a password but I log on using O365 and so don’t have a password. How do I delete this child?

      You will need your password to delete the student.
      Can you contact your system administrator who can re-set your password.

  2. We have a student who is leaving the country and guidance from admissions is that once we have sufficient evidence and are happy with all evidence provided the stdent should be deleted from Roll. Do you know if this is just down to different terminolgy meanings as a pose to actually deleting the child? I’m not sure I feel comfortable with deleting the child.

  3. I have a duplicate student and need to delete one and transfer attendance to the other, Can I have any guidance on thsi please?

      Thank you for your comments.
      You could use the Attendance Certificate or Student Attendance Report to print off the relevant marks.
      Then you can update the marks in Modules>Attendance>Manage Attendance. If you require any further assistance please contact Bromcom Support.

  4. If you delete a student, does it remove all records for them i .e behaviour entries, assessment data, attendance data, linked contacts etc? Under GDPR, we are supposed to only keep data up to a certain date in the past. So annually we have a requirement to remove a batch of students and their data. Trying to look for the best method of achieving this.

      Archiving student records will be covered in the End of Year process.
      We will let schools know when the new guidance for 2022 is released, alternatively you can look at the 2021 End of Year guidance.
