When to Refresh Your Cache
Cached Data is temporary data that’s stored in your system to help your school’s site load faster. Sometimes, when you make changes to certain information or make lots of changes in one go, the changes don’t display immediately because the Cached Data is still displayed in it’s place.
This can often happen with Student Information. For example, if you update the data in a User Defined Field, or update SEN or Pupil Premium information the updated information sometimes doesn’t display until the next day, which can affect things like Reports, what is displayed to parents in MCAS, your Attendance figures and running your Census. The reason for this is that, overnight, your Cache is Refreshed automatically. However, you can run this process manually to make the updates appear immediately.
How to Refresh your Cache
Go to Config > Setup > System Configurations.

In the Refresh Cache panel you’ll see 2 buttons: Refresh System Cache and Refresh Student Cache. Whilst you can run either process individually, we would usually recommend refreshing both the System and Student Cache one after the other to update everything.

First, select Refresh System Cache, this affects areas that don’t contain Student data. For example the Cover, Diary and Administration modules.

This will take a few seconds to complete but once it has finished you will receive confirmation in the top right hand corner of your screen.

Next, select Refresh Student Cache, this affects any data relating to your Students.

This can take a couple of minutes to complete, depending on the amount of data you hold. Once the process is complete you will receive a notification in the top right hand corner.
