How to send Alerts using the MIS and Alert Notification Client

Note: All pages shown below are subject to having relevant Roles and Permissions.

In this guide, you will be shown how to install the MIS Alert Notification Client and how to Send Alerts from the MIS to Alert colleagues who have the Notification Client installed. This will consist of the following steps;


To begin, you will need to open the MIS.

Once it is open, use the User Profile Menu (on the top right) and click on Versions.

Once Versions loads, use the Download Client Installers section on the right of the page to find the Alert Notification Client (32-bit or 64-bit).

Clicking on it will begin the download.

The install can then be initiated by clicking on the download file, either at the bottom of your browser or by going to the Downloads Folder of your PC.

Once the Installer loads, press Install.

Give the Installer around 30 seconds or so.

The Alert Notification Client will then launch automatically and begin running in the background.


Once the Notification Client first launches, you will see this message at the bottom of your PC.

This is because the Notification Client has not been configured to connect to your MIS yet.

To do this, look for the Alert icon at the bottom right of your PC near the volume/wi-fi icons (or wherever they appear on your respective PC).

Once you have located the icon, right click on it and press Configuration.

This will open the Configuration section of the Notification Client.

You need to tick Use Cloud Service, which will allow you to enter your School ID, while also unlocking the User Name and Password fields.

Here, you need to enter your personal log in details as if you were logging in to the MIS.

Once they are entered, press OK.

This concludes the initial configuration and the Notification Client is now connected to your MIS.

You can fine tune how you would like the Notification Client to work on your PC by finding the icon at the bottom of your PC and right clicking to return open Configuration or ticking/unticking which types of Alerts you want to receive.

The Notification Client will now run in the background.

Sending/Receiving Alerts

Now that the Notification Client can has been configured and is running, it is time to send an Alert from the MIS.

To do this, go back to the MIS open the User Profile Menu again.

This time, click on Send Alert.

You will then be able to create an Alert, which will deliver to all other users with the Notification Client installed on their PCs (including yourself).

If configured to do so, an Alert tone will start sounding and recipients will receive an Alert like this on your PC.

Recipients need to press OK to disable the Alert tone.

If the Alert requires a response, make sure that you tick the Request Reply option when creating the Alert.

The sender of an Alert with Request Reply will see this on their MIS.

Recipients of the Alert will have the option to press Reply on the Alert.

A verbal response can then be sent to the sender of the Alert and any next steps/action can be taken from there.

So overall, the Alert Notification Client is a great way to communicate with colleagues that an incident/emergency is occurring or has occurred and help is required.
