How to Setup Behaviour Pathways

Pathways enables the user to link multiple Events within a Category to Actions so that as students have events logged against them they accumulate points and in turn this will trigger an Action against the students behaviour record.

Important: If a Behaviour Model is created during the academic year, it will only track events and points added after the model is set up. Any events or points recorded in Bromcom before the setup date will not trigger actions, as Behaviour Models cannot be backdated.

In the example screenshot below;

  • Category = Selected Consequences, Homework and Rewards are also Categories see How to Create a Category
  • Events = in the example below RMO,RCG, LAT etc, see How to Create an Event ensuring they are assigned to the Toolbox Category. Note: The Category will be updated once the Event is added to your Pathways setup.
  • Actions = in the example below 30MinTrig, 60MinTrig, 90Min Trig, see How to Create an Action these Actions can be linked to Detentions if required.

This section looks at the following processes;

Set the Date

A Pathways model can be created in advance by clicking the calendar icon and choosing the Date.

Important: Once the Behaviour Model has been created and saved, actions will automatically begin to generate on student records when the thresholds set within the model are reached.

Changes during an Academic Year: If a Behaviour Model is created part way through the academic year, any behaviour events or points recorded in Bromcom before the model was created will not count towards triggering actions. Only events and points added after the setup date will be included. The model cannot be backdated.

Choose Category

Using the tabs at the top to select the Category to build the model in. In the example below the Category Rewards has been chosen.

Add Events

This in done by clicking on the Event and dragging it to the Action. A line will appear to to show they are linked. Repeat so all Events are all linked to Actions.

Link Events to an Action

In the example above a student needs 10 positive points to trigger a Bronze BRZ Action.

Actions can be linked to other Actions within a Category, in this example where a student gets;

  • 50 Positive points then they get an Action of a Gold Award

The same method can be applied to negative points where an Action is linked to a Scheduled Detention.

Note: For more information on setting up detention schedules please see How to Schedule a Behaviour Detention

In this example where a student gets;

  • 30 negative points they get an Action of a 30 Minute Detention that is linked to a scheduled detention.
  • 60 negative points they then get an Action of a 60 Minute Detention that is linked to a scheduled detention.
  • 90 negative points then they get an Action of a 90 Minute Detention that is linked to a scheduled detention.
