How to take a Register from the Teacher Dashboard
In order to take a Register via the Teacher Dashboard, you need to have the Teacher role assigned to you and be associated with a Teaching Class/Tutor Group. If these conditions are met then when you log in to Bromcom you will be taken straight to the Teacher Dashboard. The screenshots used in this section show the default view for a Teaching Class.

The Date will default to todays date, however if you need to take a Register for a different day, select the Date drop down and select the Date you would like to take the Register for from the drop down.

Use the Group drop down at the top to select which Group you would like to take the Register for.

Then if you have more than one Session scheduled with this group on the selected day, you can use the Session drop down to select which period you would like to take the register for.

Once the associated group and period are selected, you can press Take Register.

This will take you to the Register for the selected group on the period of your choice. Use the buttons on the right to fill in each Students Attendance. The Tick will mark them Present, the Cross will mark them as an Unauthorised Absence.

Selecting the Clock icon will mark them as Late and will prompt you to enter the number of Minutes Late, you will also have the option to add a Note if required.

Clicking the drop down arrow will display a list of all available Attendance Codes for you to select from.
Note: The Attendance Codes available to you will be dependent on how your school has configured the Attendance module.

You also have the option to Mark All As Present in the top right hand corner.

The Attendance will Save automatically each time you enter a mark so once you have completed the Register you can close the pop-up using the cross in the top right.
You can toggle the Attendance Mark Protection button on and off. It will be blue when active. When enabled, prevents attendance marks from being overwritten.
The default setting can be configured in Config >Attendance >Registration Options > Rolling Register Options > Default Attendance Mark Protection.

The Seating Plan icon opens the Seating Plan in a new tab.
The Seating Plan will open in either the new or old UI depending on the configuration set in Config > Setup > System Settings > New UI Settings.

Taking a Double Register
All registers will display as Single Registers when using the Take Register button from the Teacher Dashboard. If you have a class spanning multiple consecutive periods and you would like to take the attendance in one go, you can open a Double Register by selecting the Timetable panel from the menu on the left of the Teacher Dashboard.

Find the Double Lesson in your timetable and click on it to open the register.

If you have Split Registers enabled within My Account, you will see a pop-up asking if you would like to take a Single Register for either session, or a Double Register. Select the Double Register (in the following screenshot, this is the option that says Period 1-2) and click OK.
Note: If you do not have Split Registers enabled you will not see this pop-up and will be taken straight to the Double Register.

This will open the Double Register and you can enter attendance as normal.
Note: When you enter a Mark into the first session it will automatically be copied into the second session however they can then be edited independently of one another.

Other Options Within the Register
If you would like to view further information in the Register you can click on Add Column and use the toggles to decide which information to show, then click Save to add the Columns to the Register.

The Register will default to a List view, however you can change the view to display cards for each of the Students by clicking the person icon in the top right corner.

When in List format you can also view the Register in a Daily view, if you would prefer by clicking the drop down next to Current Session and selecting Daily View.

The Daily View shows the full days Attendance for each Student in the selected Group. You can select the appropriate Attendance code for each student from the drop down.

In the event that you are taking the register on a projector, you have the option to hide sensitive information about your Students by selecting Projector Mode in the top right hand corner.

Take a Register for another member of Staff
Use this process in the scenario you have been asked to Take a Register for another member of staff. Bromcom will know that you have taken the Register in place of the other Staff Member. There are a few ways that you can do this.
From the Teacher Dashboard select Timetable from the left hand side.

Select the Staff Member you would like to take a register for from the drop down at the top.

Then, within the Timetable click on the session you would like to take a Register for to open the Register.

Alternatively if you are not a Teacher, you can access this from the Home page by using the drop down in the top left to select Overview.
Note: Opening a Register from the Overview screen will open the Register in the old format, you will need to type the Attendance marks in for each Student and once you’re happy ensure you click Save in the top left hand corner as it does not save automatically.

Within the My Calendar widget, click the More drop down and click Select a Register.

In the pop-up that appears, select the Date, Class Code and Period/Session that you would like to take the register for and click OK.

This will take you to the register for the selected Class/Group.
If you do not know the Class Code, from the My Calendar widget, select More and then Go To My Timetable.

Use the dropdown to select the Staff Member whos class you are taking the Register for.

Find the Class you need to take the Register for in the Teachers Timetable and click on it to open the Register.

Take a Register with Dinners
When you open the Register for a Tutor Group from the Teacher Dashboard you’ll notice there is an extra column for Meal Type that isn’t present in the Register for a Teaching Class.
Use the Meal Type drop downs on the right to select the relevant Meal Type. This will save automatically.

You also have the option to add Comments to the Dinner Selection by clicking on the speech bubble icon to the right of the drop down, entering your Comment and clicking Save.

If you are using Dinner Menus, you can make menu choices by clicking on the knife and fork icon.

Select which Dinner Menu you would like to select from, then use the radio buttons to make the Meal Choice and click Save to confirm.
