How to view MCAS Received Messages

In this guide we’ll look at how you can view and manage Messages received through MCAS. This applies to Messages sent to the Schools admin account and not to Messages sent to individual Staff Members.

Access: The minimum permissions required to access Received Messages can be found in the MCAS module from within Config > Setup > Roles & Permissions.

Go to Modules > MyChildAtSchool > Received Messages.

By default the page will display any Unread Messages that have been received through MCAS.

In the top left hand corner you can use the From and To Date fields to change the Date Range that you are looking at. Once you’ve made the necessary changes to the dates click Refresh to update the list.

You can also use the Grid Actions to export the information in the table.

In the top right hand corner you have the Hide Read Messages option, this is ticked by default, however if you would like to include Read Messages in the table, untick this.

You can mark Messages as Read or Unread by selected the Messages to update using the tick boxes to the left, then selecting Mark As, then choosing the status you would like to assign to the messages from the dropdown.

To the right hand side of the table you have the Reply, Print, and Log options.

If you click on the Reply icon, you will see the following pop-up.

The Subject will be pre-populated for you and the Message you received from the Parent will be entered in the Message box, for you to add your Reply above it. There are 2 tick boxes at the bottom, ticking Create an Outbound Communication Log will add your reply to the Communication section of the Students Profile. Below that, any Students linked to the Contact will be listed, select which Student the Message applies to so that it is added to the correct Student Profile. Once you’re happy click Send and the Parent will receive your response in MCAS.

Clicking Print will open your Print Preview window to allow you to Print or Save the Message.

Clicking Log will add the Received Message to the Inbound Communication Log on the Students Profile. You will receive the following confirmation message, click Proceed to confirm.
