Use this guide to resolve School Census Error 2785
Error 2785:
DfE Validation:
- Where <LearningAimStatus> equals ‘3’, <LearningAimWithdrawalReason> must be present and a valid value
- Learning aim withdrawal reason is missing or invalid value
Explanation:
- Go to Students>View Student Profile>Enrolment>Programme and Learning Aims>Select Learning Aim>Edit. If the Learning Aim Status is Withdrawn then a Withdrawal Reason must be selected from the drop down choices. See below for DfE Withdrawal Reason codes.
- If the Learning Aim isn’t linked to a Programme Aim choose Learning Aim in the Enrolment tab in the Student Profile.

In the example below the Learning Aim is linked to a Programme Aim, if its not choose Learning Aims in Enrolment
Go to Students>View Student Profile>Enrolment>Programme and Learning Aims
Click the pencil icon to the right of the Learning Aim you wish to view/edit
Check that a Withdrawal Reason is completed if the Status is set to Withdrawn.
The Withdrawal Reason drop down only becomes visible if the Status is set to Withdrawn.
Click Save if you make any amendments.
IMPORTANT in order for the resolved error/query to be removed from the list of errors/queries you would need to generate a new Census return and remember to use save & validate for the errors/queries to update/clear.
