Use this guide to resolve School Census Error 2903
Error 2903:
DfE Validation:
- Each <ProgrammeAim> must contain at least one <LearningAim>
- A programme aim must contain at least one learning aim
Explanation:
- Go to Modules>Curriculum>Student Post 16>Manage Programme Aims>Choose Students>Choose Academic Year >Select either All Post 16 or individually select Students>Apply>Learning Aims Counter Column>Filter>zero. This will show the Students with no Learning Aims linked to a Programme Aim
- Go to Students Profile>Enrolment>Programme Aims>Edit>Save then you will be asked if you want to update the Status of all related Learning Aims, if Yes is selected the related Learning Aims will become attached to the Programme Aim. Then see How to Manage Learning Aims.

Go to Modules>Curriculum>Student Post 16>Manage Programme Aims
This will open the Manage Programme Aims – All Post-16 page, which on first view will be empty.
Click on the Choose Students button to add Students to the page, then select either All Post-16 to add All of the Students or Student to add selected Students.
- Note: When changing the Academic Year the Active On Date at the top of the Manage Programme Aims panel will return the Autumn Census Date for that year as the default setting.
- If the Academic Year is the current year then the Active On Date will be todays date.
Click Apply.
Now you have your list of Students use the filter in the Learning Aim Counter column to filter to zero to see Students who have a Programme Aim but no Learning Aims linked to it.
There are several ways to add Learning Aims to a Students record see How to Manage Learning Aims
In this example in the Student Profile>Enrolment>Learning Aim we can see a Learning Aim that is not attached to a Programme Aim.
Then if we choose Programme & Learning Aims from Enrolment
Then click the Edit pencil icon next to the Programme Aim to Edit Programme Aim.
Then check the details and click Save
Then the system will prompt us to update the Status of all related Learning Aims
Click Yes if you wish to update the Status
Now the Learning Aim is attached to the Programme Aim
If we go back to Modules>Curriculum>Manage Programme Aim and select this Student we can see in the Learning Aim Count column now shows 1 for the linked Learning Aim.
IMPORTANT in order for the resolved error/query to be removed from the list of errors/queries you would need to generate a new Census return and remember to use save & validate for the errors/queries to update/clear.
