Spain has introduced a new system (CNMC Alias Registry) where companies/schools must register their SMS sender name (like “Amazon”, “BankXYZ”).
✅ It’s to stop scam messages (smishing)
✅ Applies only to alphanumeric sender names (not phone numbers)
✅ If you don’t register, your messages will be blocked
Update:
The enforcement deadline was moved to 15 September 2026 (was originally June 2026), so blocking hasn’t started yet.
👉 Bottom line:
If a business or school wants to send branded SMS/RCS in Spain, they must officially register their sender ID before Sept 2026 or messages won’t go through. Using a phone number is allowed without registration.
