This guide looks at the built in Safeguarding Roles and the various Permissions needed for performing Safeguarding functions within Bromcom.
Access: the minimum permissions required for Roles and Permissions is found in the Setup Module from Config>Setup>Roles and Permissions

Safeguarding Lead and Safeguarding User
The Safeguarding Lead and Safeguarding User roles are built into the MIS when a school moves to Bromcom.
Typically a Safeguarding Lead will have permissions for all areas of Safeguarding and the Safeguarding User will have limited permissions.
Go to Config>Setup>Roles and Permissions to see Roles.

You can edit the permissions for these built in roles according to your schools requirements as well as assigning the relevant staff to the roles they need. See How to Edit a Role.
In addition the Export/Import of roles is particularly useful in the example you want to create a new role which has the majority of permissions that a built in role has, follow the Export/Import guidance on How to Export/Import a Role.

Users can add Safeguarding Incidents from the Student List Page and add various Safeguarding information in the Student Profile from the Safeguarding tab

To view/edit the permissions for these Student functions go to Config>Setup>Roles and Permissions click on the required Role from the Roles drop down and click Edit. In the example below we have chosen Safeguarding User.

Then from the Module drop down choose Framework

Then scroll down to see the Students Header

Scroll down to see Safeguarding Incidents, this permission allows a Safeguarding Incident to be added to a single Student from the Student List Page from Actions.

Scroll down to see New Student Details, this area contains the permissions for Safeguarding functions within the Student Profile>Safeguarding

Scroll down to see the various functions under the Safeguarding header.
IMPORTANT: note the View All permissions, these permissions give the ability to view Safeguarding Incidents or Actions for ALL STUDENTS not just the ones they have assigned Incidents or Actions to, typically these permissions are usually assigned to a Safeguarding Lead.
