How to Configure the Dinner Module

This guide will look at how to configure the Bromcom Dinner Module, including how to set up Staff Dinner Bookings.

Access: The Permissions required to access Dinner Configurations can be found in the Dinner module from Config > Setup > Roles and Permissions

To configure your Dinner Module, first go to Configurations > Dinner > Configutations.

This section allows you to specify which days you are able to choose a Meal Pattern for within the Meals and Transport section of the Student Profile.

Use this section to select which Meal Definitions you would like to appear by default in different situations:

  • Student Not Present: If the Student is marked as Not Present the Dinner Register will automatically populate with the Meal Definition selected here.
  • Student New Meal Pattern: When a Student does not have a Meal Pattern specified within the Meals and Transport section of the Student profile and they are marked as present, the Meal Definition selected here will be automatically assigned.
  • Staff New Meal Pattern: The Meal Definition selected here will be automatically assigned when using the Dinner Register option from the Actions Menu on the Staff List Page.

Staff Dinner Options

Use this section to configure what access staff have to book and pay for dinners in Bromcom.

  • Allow Staff Members to use Bromcom Dinner Money: This allows Staff access to make payments towards their Dinner Balance using the Dinner Balance Widget that can be found on the Overview screen from their Bromcom Home page or via the Dinner option in the Teacher App. (Please Note: In order to configure the other options in this section, this option needs to be enabled.)
  • Enable Staff to Select Dinners Via the Dinner Balance Widget: With this enabled, Staff Members will be able to select different Dinner Menu options from the Dinner Balance Widget on the Overview screen or through the Dinner option in the Teacher App. (Please Note: The Dinner Menu will also need to have ‘Enable staff to select Dinners via the dinner balance widget’ ticked within the Menu setup in Config > Dinners > Dinner Menus.)
  • Do not let staff create negative balances for Dinner Menu: With this enabled, Staff will only be able to book further dinners if they have enough in their Dinner Balance to cover the meals they are trying to book. If they don’t have sufficient funds in their Dinner Balance, they will be prompted to Top-Up.
  • Create a cut-off time after which staff can no longer make selections or changes: Enabling this allows you to select at what point Staff are no longer able to make Meal Selections. You can select to prevent bookings from a specified number of days before (for example Staff are no longer able to make Meal Selections after 2 days before the meal is due to be served) or from a specific day the week before the meals are booked for (for example from the Friday of the week before the meal is due to be served, staff are no longer able to make Meal Selections).
  • Set how far in advance staff can make menu selections: Allows you to select how far into the future Staff are able to make Meal Selections for. You can specify a set number of days (for example Staff are able to make Meal Selections up to 10 days in advance) or set a specific date that Staff can make bookings up to (for example, Staff are able to make Meal Selections up to 21/07/24).
