How to Create Assessment Types

Note: All pages below are subject to having relevant Roles and Permissions.

In order to create Columns on a Tracking Template you need to create an Assessment Type, this is the type of data you wish to collect on the Assessment Sheet, for example, Predicted GradesCurrent GradesTargetsMock Results etc.

You only need to create one Assessment Type for each type of Assessment Data you wish to collect. You don’t need to create one per Subject or per Year Group.

Hover on the Modules heading on the Toolbar select Assessment and click on Assessment Components.

Click New to create a new Assessment Type ( note Assessment Type is chosen on the Assessment Component drop down)

This opens the Assessment Type page.

Name – will be the Grade Collection Type

Result Type  –  will be whether it is a Grade/Mark etc., is selected from the drop down.

Note: When creating a Comment Assessment Type define the minimum and maximum number of characters allowed.

See also How to Create Comment Banks.

Comment Assessment Type

Gradeset – is selected fro the dropdown menu

Exceptions – this is where you can add subjects that don’t collect the standard Grade. For example if all the subjects are collecting GCSE Grades 9-1 apart from a couple that are BTEC grades, this is where you would add the BTEC subjects. Choose which Year Groups these affect, the subjects that are a different Grade, which terms it is for and the Grade Type.

In the example above in Year 9,10 and 11 have been selected, Subject is Leisure and Tourism and Terms Autumn, Spring and Summer and the BTEC First Grade Set. More than one subject can be chosen in the Subject Selection if for example Engineering for Year 9, 10 and 11 were also studying BTEC First.

When finished click on the Save and Close button.
