How To Enable Single Sign-On for Student Portal

Note: All pages below are subject to having relevant Roles and Permissions.

Single Sign-On for Student Portal allows Students to sign in using either a Microsoft or Google login.

Note: Once you have enabled Single Sign-On you will only be able to create new Accounts using the Import function.

Enable Single Sign On for Students

From the left Menu go to Config > Student Portal > General Settings.

Now select the Enable Single Sign-On Providers option and click Save.

Note: Once enabled the only way to login will be by using the Google or Office365 buttons on the Login page, the School ID, Username and Password can no longer be used to login

Setting User Accounts for Single Sign-On

To setup the Student User Accounts for Single Sign-On from the left Menu go to Modules > Student Portal > User Accounts. Select a Student and click Edit.

  • Single Sign-On Email* – enter the Student e-mail address
  • Single Sign-On Account Provider* – select either Google or Microsoft from the dropdown list

Click Save when finished, the e-mail address will now be listed in the Single Sign-On Account column.

Note: Once you have enabled Single Sign-On you will only be able to create new Accounts using the Import function.

Importing e-mail addresses from a CSV file

The Import option can also be used to Import Student e-mails from an existing CSV file. Click the Import button.

Step 1Browse for your CSV file, then click the Next button.

Step 2 – Select to Import by either Admission Number, Unique Pupil Identifier or both. Then from the Import columns section:

  • Single Sign-On Email box – tick this to allow Single Sign-On
  • Dropdown list – select e-mail (this will be what you have called the column with the e-mails in, within your CSV file, for this example it is e-mail)
  • Single Sign-On Account Provider* – from the dropdown list select either Google or Microsoft

Next click the Analyse button.

Step 3 – This will match the User Accounts against the CSV file, the Matched column will show.

  • Green Tick – shows matched e-mails
  • Red X – shows unmatched e-mails
  • Blue ! – invalid Single Sign-On email

When you are ready click the Import button.

Step 4 – Will show the Import Results.

The Students will now be able to login to Student Portal using the Single Sign-On option of either Google or Microsoft.
