How to Create a New Behaviour Event

Note: All pages below are subject to having relevant Roles and Permissions.

Behaviour Event is an occurrence of something that has taken place and needs to be recorded against a Students Record, this could be a PositiveNegative or a Neutral Event.

Note: If you need to Edit an Event that has been logged against a Student you can do this from Modules > Behaviour > Event Records. Find the Event using the parameters. Either double click on the Event or select the Event and click Edit. Remember to click Save if making any changes.

From the left Menu, go to Config > Behaviour > Events.

This will open the Events page.

Note: The Show Events as of option will be set to the Current Day. This will show Events that are Active up to or on this date.

To create a new Event, click the New button.

This will open the Add Event Details pop-up.

The page has 5 tabs along the top, Event Details, Referral Recipients, Linked Outcomes, Linked Classifications and Linked Actions.

Please note: Many of these fields are optional and do not need to be completed.

Event Details

Complete the fields where relevant.

  • Name – this can be up to 10 characters in length
  • Description  – this can be up to 30 characters in length
  • Start Date  – date the Event will start from
  • End Date  – add a Date if you want the Event to expire after a certain Date
  • Event Type – add from the dropdown list, (this can the help when filtering for certain types of Events when Reporting)
  • Event Group  –  if required select from the dropdown list, this is used to filter the Events from the Teacher Behaviour Entry Page
  • Event Category  – you want the Event to reside in (usually Toolbox)
    • These are assigned in via Config > Behaviour > Pathways i.e. you drag the Events and position in the Category required, then Click Save
  • Adjustment Value  –  this value will set the amount of Event Points which recipients of this Event will be allocated. This value can be Positive or Negative and can be set to Read Only (protected), if you do not want the User to be able to adjust the Points Value
  • Colour  –  select the Colour to be associated with this Event
  • Detention Type –  (if required) select from the dropdown list, if selected when the Event is logged it will trigger the Detention Type

Complete the tick boxes:

  • Comments – will require a Comment be entered upon the Event Entry
  • Outcome – will require the User to apply an Outcome to this Event
  • Classification – will require the User to apply a Classification to this Event
  • Group – will require the User to assign a Group to this Event
  • Location – will require the User to assign a Location to this Event
  • Behaviour Admin Only – only Behaviour Administrators will be able to allocate this Event
  • Exclude from Report Totals – will exclude this Event from the Parent Student Report
  • Require Record Review – will not process the Event until a Review has been completed, based on the selected settings, found in the Configurations page for Behaviour

Referral Recipients

Complete the information for the Referrals.

  • Refer to role  –  select the Role(s) of Staff to whom recipients of this Event will be referred
    • When selecting an area-specific Role (such as Head of Year/Subject) only Events with relation to that specific area will be referred
  • Refer to member of staff  –  select a member of Staff who is not represented by any of the available options, you can select them manually using the Staff Name search

Linked Outcomes

Select the Outcomes you wish to associate with this Event. See How to Create a New Behaviour Outcome

  • Linked to Event – tick or untick to select or deselect
  • Selected as Default – tick to automatically select that Outcome by default when the Event is selected

Note: When a Default Outcome is automatically filled the User can still change the value in the Behaviour Entry Form if they wish.

Linked Classifications

Select the Classifications you wish to associate with this Event. See How to Create Behaviour Event Classifications

  • Linked to Event – tick or untick to select or deselect
  • Selected as Default – tick to automatically select that Classification by default when the Event is selected

Note: When a Default Classification is automatically filled the User can still change the value in the Behaviour Entry Form if they wish.

Linked Actions

There is nothing to be completed on this tab as it will be automatically populated if you are using Behaviour Pathways.

When you’re finished click the Save button.

Access: The minimum permissions required to create a new Behaviour Event are found in the Behaviour Module of Config > Setup > Roles & Permissions.
