How to Escalate and Reschedule Detentions

In this guide, we will show you how to Escalate or Reschedule Detentions from within a Detention Register. This process is possible once a Detention has been Scheduled and it has been given to at least one Student.

When a Teacher takes a Detention Register from the Lessons Dashboard or User Timetable area, they may have the option to Escalate or Re-schedule if this has been enabled in Config>Behaviour>Detentions>Schedule.

Escalation is possible when a Student misses a Detention with an Unauthorised Absence. While Rescheduling is possible when a Student misses a Detention with an Authorised Absence.

Access: The permissions required to access the area where you enable Detention Escalation and Rescheduling are found in the Behaviour Module of Config>Setup>Roles & Permissions. Teachers can Escalate or Reschedule Detentions in the Detention Register which Teachers access.

Click Save.

Tick Escalate

In this Detention the Schedule has been set that if Students do not attend they get an Event called Missed15 Minute Detention which is linked to a 30 Minute Detention which is also scheduled.

Escalate : The Student will be automatically added to the next slot on the 30 Minute Detention.

Reschedule

In order for the Teacher to Reschedule a Detention Enable Teacher Detention Register Rescheduling must be ticked in Config>Behaviour>Detention Types>Select Detention>Schedule, see How to Schedule a Behaviour Detention

In this example the Student has been unable to attend due to Illness so an I for ill code has been selected and the Resc button has been selected. The Student will be automatically added to the next available slot for the 15 Minute Detention Type.

Reschedule

In the 2nd example the Teacher does not want to Reschedule the Detention to the next scheduled slot then they would need to mark the absence for the Student concerned and then contact the schools behaviour administrator so they can organise the next Detention from the Detention Review page.

In the example below a Student has been marked as I – ill for the Detention, do not tick the Resc. button and contact your schools behaviour administrator who can book the Student on the required Detention from Detention Review.

Absence recorded do not tick Resc.
