Behaviour Staff can use this guide to Create an Automated Event where the system will look for students who match the criteria set in the Automated Event Parameters page.

Automated Events can be used to link a Behaviour Event to student Attendance or other Behaviour Events.

For example, you could use this feature to look for all students who have 100% Attendance with no Lates between a defined start and end date, and then automatically award them with a new Behaviour Event of your choice.

From the left hand menu choose Modules > Behaviour > Automated Events.

Automated Events

This will open the Automated Events Parameters page.

Automated Events Parameters

Before moving on, you will notice at the bottom of the screen there is a Radio button with 4 options to select from;

Attendance Meaning – This option allows for the creation of Automated Events when a specific Attendance Meaning attached to an Attendance Code is assigned to Students . This option could be used create an Automated Event based on any Unauthorised Absence codes Students receive for example).

Attendance Meaning

Attendance Code – This option allows for the creation of Automated Events when a specific Attendance Code is assigned to Students. This option could be used to create Automated Events based on Students receiving an L or M Code in AM/PM Registration for example.

Attendance Code

Punctuality – This option allows for the creation of Automated Events based on Punctuality

  • Threshold for Attendance % acts as a GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO (>=) criteria
  • Threshold for Lates acts as a LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO (<=) Criteria.
  • Both criteria work together as an AND I.e. both criteria need to be true.

In the example below, students with 90% or more Attendance % AND 5 or less Lates will get the Event.

Punctuality

Event Filter – This option allows for the creation of Automated Events based on the total number of Behaviour Events or Behaviour Points that Students are below, equal to or above for specific Behaviour Events. This option can be used to create Automated Events based on Students who have 5 Toolbox/Positive/Negative Events or have more than 30 Behaviour Points for example.

Event Filter

Continuing with the steps above, choose Class and then click on the Group Name blue search Icon to open the Group Selector. Use the left hand side Group Type dropdown to select the Group Type.

Note: This can be any of the following 10 Groups Types.

Group Type Dropdown

In this example the (S) Current Students Report Group has been chosen.

Group Selected

Click Done to return to the Automated Events page.

In the example below, the Start Date and End Date have been selected and the Event Name +AT has been selected by either typing the Event Code into the Event Name box or clicking the blue find icon to open the Event List to show all Events.

Note: The Event +AT has been created for us to assign it to students with 100% Attendance and no Lates. Selecting the (S) Current Students Report Group will find all Students on roll and the Threshold will detect which students meet the criteria to receive the new Behaviour Event.

See How to Create a New Event.

On the Period Group dropdown AM/PM has been selected and Punctuality has been ticked,

Then the Threshold for Attendance has been set at 100% and the Threshold for Lates has been set at 0.

Once you have selected all the required Parameters click the top left Search to Search for all the students who meet the Threshold for Attendance and Threshold for Lates.

Search

The Search will produce a list of students as in the example below.

100% Attendance and no lates

Either Select All Students by Clicking in the top left box or Click on Individual Students and then click Create Event to complete the process.

Note: When using this process, please be aware that one Event will be created PER MARK of the meaning you have selected.

So, if you set Unauthorised Absent as the Attendance Meaning for a Week and students receive Ten of these Marks, Ten Behaviour Events would be created for them.

Select All

In this example the Threshold for Attendance % has been set at 95% and the Threshold for Lates has been set at 2. Clicking Search will show the students who have 95% attendance and above with a maximum of 2 lates.

Punctuality 95% and 2 Lates

In this example Attendance Meaning has been selected and Unauthorised Absent selected from the dropdown.

Attendance Meaning Example

Clicking Search will show a list of students and a column showing the number of Unauthorised Absents in the Attendance Count column.

Attendance Code List

Automated Events can also be used to link Behaviour Events.

In this example the Event Filter has been selected and a pre created Behaviour Event called MultiPhone has been selected from the Event List.

In the Greater Then box 2 has been entered.

The search will look for those students who have been awarded more than 2 MP Events in the defined date period and then they will be given the MultiPhone Event.

Event Filter Example

Use the Schedule button to define when the searches can be scheduled

In this example Termly has been chosen from the schedule dropdown

On: Day following last day of Term

At: 0900am

Define the Schedule From and Until dates. Leave the Until empty for the schedule to run with no end date.

Attendance Event Range: Relative Term has been chosen as this is a Termly Schedule
