Use this guide to resolve School Census Error 2870

Error 2870:

DfE Validation:

• For pupils on roll, if <NCyearActual> is > 11 and if <EnrolStatus> equals ‘C’ ‘F’, ‘O’ or ‘M’ then Programme Aims for the current academic year (<ProgrammeActualEndDate> not present or after 2023-07-31) must be present
• Programme aims for the current academic year must be submitted for a pupil in year 12 or above with single or main registration at the school

Explanation:

• If a Student is on roll and in Year 12 or above AND has the enrolment status C (Current), M (Current Main), F (FE College) for Pupil Referral Units or Alternative Providers ONLY Or O ( Other Provider) for Pupil Referral Units or Alternative Providers ONLY then a Programme Aim with an Actual End Date set as either blank or after 31-07-2023 must be present.
• Go to Modules>Curriculum>Student Post 16>Manage Programme Aims>Choose Students>Choose Academic Year >Select either All Post 16 or individually select Students>Apply>Add> Choose Programme Type>Start Date>Planned End Date>Status = Continuing> Apply

Go to Modules>Curriculum>Student Post 16>Manage Programme Aims

This will open the Manage Programme Aims – All Post-16 page, which on first view will be empty.

There are four options at the top Choose Students, Add, Edit and Delete there is also an i Information icon.

Click on the Choose Students button to add Students to the page, select either All Post-16 to add All of the Students or Student to add selected Students.

Note: When changing the Academic Year the Active On Date will return the Autumn Census Date for that year as the default setting.

Click Apply.

Now you have your list of Post-16 Students the Add button can be used to add Programme Aims for those who do not yet have any. Tick the boxes to the left of the Student or tick the top left box to select All.

If you have selected Students who already have a Programme Aim a Warning message will be given.

If the selected Students have no Programme Aims the Add Programme Aims pop-up will be displayed. Clicking on the Body icon top right will display the list of selected Students.

You can now add the Programme Aim, selecting from the Programme Types drop down as either;

• 16-19 study programme
• Transition programme
• T Level

Set the Start Date and Planned End Date, the Status allows Continuing only, tick the Traineeship box if required.

When done click the Apply button, the table will now be updated.

IMPORTANT in order for the resolved error/query to be removed from the list of errors/queries you would need to generate a new Census return and remember to use save & validate for the errors/queries to update/clear.
